Resume Bulletin Boards = OVEREXPOSURE!
The jury was out on the impact of Bulletin Boards such as Monster, Headhunter and Resume Blaster. However, recently F1000 level companies have declared ANY candidates currently marketing themselves using this method of resume distribution as untouchable, overexposed, risk hires, even going as far as amending their contracts to indicate a search fee IS NOT earned if a candidate is found listed on such a bbs.
Rightly, wrongly or otherwise, the marketplace has spoken. If youre currently broadcasting your resume on such a service, BE CAREFUL! Companies have been deluged w/TMI to the point that its clouded their judgement. BBSs have devalued EVERY individual candidates career leverage to the point where companies look at you like youre desperate or mercenaryneither of which recommends you for hire in their organization.
Oh, and in case you hadnt noticedTHE PARADIGM HAS SHIFTED!
Companies are now back in control of the staffing marketplace and are they ever making the most of the turn of events.
If you are considering a career change, its back to brick and mortar. Its still smart to review Internet postings to find opportunities, just dont post your resume for mass distribution or public view. Simply attach your resume individually per submission, thereby staying off the overexposed list. Youll also be of much higher value to Recruiters everywhere! Good Luck.
